THE HORIZON AS THE PROTAGONIST

At the top of one of Benidorm’s iconic towers, one’s gaze drifts over the Mediterranean. Yet it also turns towards the mountains, the trees, and the city’s urban skyscape. This intersection of perspectives is the starting point for Blue Silence, a residential project in which veneer, light, and landscape merge into a unique living experience. Designed by the Interproyectos studio —with Alejandro and Mónica at the helm— and built by Logos, this high-end holiday apartment was born with a clear desire: that every corner be a window to the outside.

“THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WAS TO CREATE A MAIN SPACE FROM WHICH ONE COULD SEE ALL THE DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES THAT THE APARTMENT ALLOWS FOR. THE SEA VIEWS, OF COURSE, BUT ALSO THE OPPOSITE SIDE, THE NORTH, WITH THE TREES AND THE MOUNTAINS, AS WELL AS THE CITY OF BENIDORM ITSELF.”

Alejandro, an architect from Interproyectos, summarises the central theme behind the project as follows. The kitchen, far from being hidden, is integrated into the living room with a precise strategy: it must be practical for customers who like to cook, but as discreet as possible so as not to compete with the scenery. The result is an open, serene space in which visual order amplifies the feeling of spaciousness.

THREE VENEERS, ONE VOICE

“VENEERS WERE USED AS THE GUIDING ELEMENT TO GIVE THE PROPERTY THAT WARM LOOK. WE CHOSE DIFFERENT FINISHES FOR EACH SPACE TO DISTINGUISH THEM.”

To walk through Blue Silence is to discover a silent dialogue between the orange walnut, ebony, and graphite oak. Far from monotonous, each room takes on its own personality thanks to this interplay of grains and tones. The walls, floors, and furniture become a warm canvas that surrounds the visitor.

Alejandro explains that the search was not only aesthetic, but also functional. The home, due to its orientation in space and height, receives intense light that had to be controlled.

Dark veneers act as natural filters, preventing harsh reflections and achieving that “pleasant feeling in the room” that the architects were aiming for.

“FROM THE BEGINNING, THE CHOICE OF EBONY AS A DISTINCTIVE ELEMENT WAS A MAIN OBJECTIVE. IT WOULD BE PART OF THE LOWER KITCHEN CABINETS, ALMOST AS IF IT WERE A SIDEBOARD. THE CONTRAST OF ITS GRAIN ENTERS INTO DIALOGUE WITH THE REST OF THE FURNITURE AND PANELLING IN ORANGE WALNUT AND GRAPHITE OAK.”

THE MIRROR THAT LOOKS OUT TO THE SEA

One of the project’s most surprising features appears where one least expects it: in the bathroom and bedroom. There, a one-way mirror allows views of the sea to sneak into these private rooms during the day. But the magic doesn't end there.

Mónica enthusiastically explains this highly complex technical detail. The vertical mirror in the bedroom also serves as a full-length mirror in the house’s entrance. To achieve this effect, close coordination between the workers was needed in order to leave precise clearances that would allow for the subsequent installation of the glass. And since the mirror effect goes away at night, a blackout blind was installed in the bedroom, as well as a roller blind, to regain privacy.

This type of solution just goes to show that Blue Silence does not just overlook the sea — it integrates it into every single gesture.

PRECISION AS A GUIDING PRINCIPLE

Continuity between the furnishings and the architectural finishings is what makes the spaces flow. Sliding doors that disappear, wooden panels that hug entire walls…. Everything is deliberate.

“TO ACCOMPLISH THIS EFFECT, WE MEASURED AND MEASURED EACH JOINT, CEILING, AND FLOOR A THOUSAND TIMES TO AVOID MISTAKES IN ASSEMBLY. COORDINATION BETWEEN THE WORKSHOP AND THE STUDIO WAS KEY.”

Mónica emphasises the almost artisanal process of measuring and adjusting that made this sense of cohesion possible.

The manufacturer Logos thus became an indispensable ally in turning the studio’s intentions into reality.

In the open kitchen, the ebony island coexists with the orange walnut furnishings and an unexpected element: a white lacquered fireplace. It is the only white spot in the house, custom designed so that the heat does not damage the integrated television.

“WE WANTED TO BREAK THINGS UP WITH ANOTHER MATERIAL, ONE THAT WOULD CONTRAST WITH THE BLACK FORGED HEARTH AND FUSE WITH THE UNPANELLED WHITE WALLS”, ADDS MÓNICA.

THE EXPERIENCE OF SILENCE

To set foot inside Blue Silence is to breathe in a sense of calm that is rarely found. The architects summarise it like this:

The project's name is no accident. Blue Silence alludes to the calmness offered by the sea horizon when viewed from above, but also to the inner serenity provided by an architecture meticulously designed down to the very last millimetre. It is an exemplary collaboration between Interproyectos and Logos in which veneers, light, and top-notch craftsmanship come together to create more than just a holiday home: a refuge for the senses.

“WE WERE SEEKING A SPACIOUS AND ELEGANT, AIRY FEEL — ALL THE WHILE CONTROLLING REFLECTIONS ON MATERIALS TO ENSURE A PLEASANT ATMOSPHERE.”
